Ruger American Rimfire Target .22 LR Bolt-Action Rifle – 16.1" Threaded Barrel, Black Synthetic Stock

The Ruger American Rimfire Target .22 LR bolt-action rifle, factory model 8391, combines Ruger's proven rimfire rifle engineering with a compact 16.10-inch threaded Predator-profile barrel, adjustable trigger, and versatile black synthetic stock. Built around Ruger's American Rimfire action, this rifle features a matte blued alloy-steel barrel and receiver, factory-installed Picatinny optics rail, Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger, and detachable 10-round rotary magazine. Offered in Factory New condition, this configuration brings together several of Ruger's distinctive rimfire design features in a compact, optics-ready platform.

Model Background: Introduced in 2013, the Ruger American Rimfire series was developed to incorporate design characteristics from Ruger's popular centerfire American Rifle family while retaining magazine compatibility with the legendary Ruger 10/22 platform. The result was a modern bolt-action rimfire rifle incorporating an adjustable trigger, modular stock system, rotary magazine feeding, and Ruger's innovative Power Bedding system. The American Rimfire Target configuration builds upon this design with a heavier barrel profile, optics mounting provisions, and a compact threaded-barrel arrangement.

Cold Hammer-Forged Predator Barrel: One of the defining features of this model is its 16.10-inch cold hammer-forged alloy-steel barrel, featuring a substantial 0.720-inch Predator profile. The barrel has a matte blued finish, six grooves, and a 1:16-inch right-hand rifling twist. Its factory-threaded muzzle uses a standard 1/2"-28 thread pattern and includes a thread protector. The shorter barrel length and heavier contour distinguish this model from traditional longer-barreled American Rimfire configurations.

Ruger Marksman Adjustable Trigger: This rifle incorporates Ruger's Marksman Adjustable trigger system, designed with a user-adjustable pull-weight range of approximately 3 to 5 pounds. The trigger incorporates a central safety blade and allows adjustment within the manufacturer's specified range. The rifle also features a conveniently positioned tang-mounted manual safety, which is accessible from the upper rear portion of the receiver.

Power Bedding System: The American Rimfire utilizes Ruger's patented Power Bedding integral bedding block system, which positively locates the receiver within the stock and allows the barrel to remain free-floating. This arrangement is intended to provide consistent positioning of the barreled action within the stock. The rifle's action also features a 60-degree bolt throw, providing clearance for mounted optics, and a receiver-mounted bolt release that allows removal of the bolt without pulling the trigger.

Modular Synthetic Stock: The rifle is equipped with a durable matte black synthetic stock featuring molded grip texturing, a traditional sporting profile, and integrated sling swivel studs. This configuration includes Ruger's interchangeable high-comb stock module with a standard 13.75-inch length of pull. The modular stock design accommodates alternative Ruger stock modules, allowing different comb heights and lengths of pull depending on the selected component.

Optics-Ready Configuration: A factory-installed, one-piece Picatinny scope base provides a mounting interface for compatible rifle optics. This particular Target configuration is manufactured without traditional open iron sights, making the factory rail an important feature of the rifle's sighting arrangement. The 60-degree bolt lift also provides additional clearance around mounted optics.

Magazine System: The American Rimfire Target uses Ruger's proven BX-1 detachable 10-round rotary magazine, the same general magazine system used in the Ruger 10/22 family. The included magazine fits flush with the underside of the stock, while an extended magazine-release mechanism provides convenient access to the magazine. The rifle is compatible with other appropriate Ruger 10/22-pattern magazines, including factory BX-series magazines.

Compact Target Configuration: With an overall length of approximately 35 inches and a factory-listed weight of 5.3 pounds, this model combines the traditional feel of a bolt-action rimfire rifle with a shorter overall profile. Its .22 Long Rifle chambering, heavier threaded barrel, adjustable trigger, and optics-ready receiver reflect a configuration intended for rimfire target shooting, recreational marksmanship, and small-game sporting applications.
